Horsetail Falls - The gold waterfall

God, there are jaw-dropping places on this planet! Specifically, Horsetail Falls in Yosemite.

The explanation: Horsetail Falls is a small seasonal waterfall that only appears in late winter and early spring. It flows over the east side of El Capitan, so as a backdrop it has one of the most impressive walls of granite in the entire park. Then – only for part of February, and only when the sky is clear – the very last sunrays of the day selectively linger on the falls, lighting it up with a golden glow that makes the water look like lava.

Dramatic dog rescue on Lake Erie

I love rescue stories--human or animal--especially ones with happy endings. "Koozie" had already been rescued from the frigid waters of Lake Erie but returned to the ice for some reason. Captain Kevin Caffery's explanation for why they attempted this high-risk rescue for a dog came down to training. "It was worth the risk...When the real time comes where we have to rescue a human being, we'll be able to do it."

BUFFALO, NY (WKBW) -- Erie County Sheriff's first spotted a dog wandering on a chunk of ice in Lake Erie late last night.Officials were forced to call off the search Monday night, in fear that a rescue effort could scare the dog into the frigid waters. Rescuers were actually forced to rescue the dog twice, as the first successful rescue attempt ended with the dog returning to the ice shortly after being returned to shore.

Koozie had wandered from her owner's home near Evangola State Park on March 11th, about 30 miles from where she was rescued. She suffered only a broken nail, even after spending some time in frigid Lake Erie water, and is recovering with her owner.Watch the video  to see the full story and the dramatic rescue caught on tape.
